Our Mission

Here at Dark Soles we are wanting to bring awareness to Autoimmune diseases and their lesser known symptoms such as anxiety and depression.

In 2017 the founder of Dark Soles was diagnosed with Hashimoto Thyroiditis, an autoimmune disorder that is caused by hypothyroidism (an under active thyroid). With this disease, your immune system attacks the body’s own thyroid. The thyroid becomes damaged and can’t make enough thyroid hormones leading to all sorts of symptoms including cold hands and feet and a lowered heart rate.

After coming to terms with a huge lifestyle change our founder turned to drawing as a way to distract herself from the depression and on going anxiety that came with having Hashimoto. She didn't know it at the time but this is what eventually gave way to Dark Soles.
